MYFAMILY.COM, INC. AND PEGASUS IMAGING CORPORATION ENTER AGREEMENT ON JPEG 2000 |
| TAMPA, FL, April 17, 2003 - Pegasus Imaging Corporation, the leader in digital imaging technology, today announces a licensing agreement with MyFamily.com, Inc. for the use of Pegasus Imaging's JPEG 2000 image compression library within MyFamily.com. This website is among the largest subscription websites on the Internet. Pegasus Imaging's highly optimized compression will increase the processing and transmission speed of millions of images on the website and vastly improve efficiency. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed. MyFamily.com, Inc. will utilize the PICTools JPEG2000 software development kit (SDK) to handle millions of TIFF and JPEG 2000 images on a daily basis. This SDK provided a solution that was fast, stable, thread-safe and able to handle the massive volumes they handle every day. "I saw Pegasus Imaging's claim of being the fastest JPEG 2000 SDK on the market so I investigated this to see if it was true. So far I have not found anybody faster," claims Greg Parkinson, senior engineer at MyFamily.com, Inc. "Having our JPEG 2000 toolkit utilized by a highly regarded Internet company that handles millions of images speaks volumes about the speed and quality of this technology," says Marc Brechwald, color imaging business development manager at Pegasus Imaging.
